Leaf Season

Leaf Season Announcement

It’s that time of year again—Nyack’s Curbside Leaf Collection Program is back!

To ensure we can provide this service efficiently and safely, we ask that you please adhere to the following guidelines:

Rule #1: Only Leaves, Please
Please limit your collection to leaves only. Absolutely no sticks, bricks, rocks, or bulky debris. Remember, “leaf collection” is distinct from “branch pickup.” Our vacuum machines are designed solely for leaves. Any foreign items mixed in can cause significant damage to our equipment and pose risks to our dedicated DPW workers.

Rule #2: Proper Placement of Leaves
Pile your leaves at the curb in your yard. We recommend placing them on the grass at the edge of the curb, avoiding the street and gutter whenever possible. Leaves left in the street can become waterlogged, obstruct gutter flow, and wash into storm drains, leading to drainage issues. Keeping leaves on the curb makes collection easier and more efficient.

Helpful Tips:

  • Biodegradable Leaf Bags: Available at Village Hall and the Nyack DPW for your convenience.
  • Collection Frequency: Leaves in biodegradable bags will be collected weekly, while loose leaf piles may take longer to vacuum up. Regular collection days are typically Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please note, there will be no leaf collection on garbage collection days (Monday and Thursday).

For any questions, feel free to contact our DPW at 845-358-3552. Don’t forget to leave your address for assistance!

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep Nyack beautiful this leaf season!
