Monday and Thursday for all residential homes. Please insure all trash is securely placed in trash cans. Trash is collected from the downtown bins seven days a week.
Recycling is picked up every Thursday. Please have recycling at the curb by 6am on Thursdays.
Recycling bins are available at the Department of Public Works, located at 63 Catherine Street, Nyack, NY. You can pick them up Monday to Friday, from 7 AM to 3:30 PM.
If you are unable to visit during these hours, please call the DPW at 845-358-3552 and provide your address. DPW will arrange to drop the bins off at your home.
Bulk items such as appliances, furniture, and household goods are collected on the first Friday of each month. Please have your items at the curb by 6 AM, and no earlier than 24 hours before the collection.

Brush bags are available at the DPW, 63 Catherine St., Nyack NY Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm or at Village Hall, 9 N. Broadway, Nyack, NY Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Bags are limited to 10 per visit.
For updates on any collection issues, such as those caused by storms, please check our website, www.Nyack.gov. To ensure timely pickup, please have your trash at the curb by 6 AM on collection days.

DPW's goal is to get to every street at least once per week. The usual days for pick-up are Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays. Yard waste that doesn't fit into brush bags should be bundled and tied into 4 foot lengths. Absolutely no yard waste will be picked up in plastic bags. No dirt or rocks in the bags please.

How to Food Scrap Recycle in Nyack, it’s easy:
1. COLLECT your food scraps in a small bin stored on the countertop or under the sink. Line your bin with Rockland Green’s compostable brown bags.
2. TRANSFER the bagged food scraps from the small bin into the large white or green bin to store until you’re ready to drop them off.
3. DROP OFF your bagged food scraps in the large bin at Nyack's Food Scrap Drop-off Site. It is located at 63 Catherine Street, Nyack, NY. There will be no charge to drop off Food Scraps.
The food scraps must be dropped off in Rockland Green’s compostable brown bags!
All material collected will be brought to Rockland Green’s Co-Composting facility in Hillburn, NY, where it will be composted into nutrient rich compost.
**Residents must use the lined Compostable Brown Bags provided free of charge by Rockland Green. They are not the same as the leaf bags.**

If it’s not on the list, IT IS NOT compostable in Rockland County!
Drop-Off location is at our DPW facility, 63 Catherine St., Nyack, NY. There are green toter bins located in front of the fence with a sign that indicates its a drop off location. Bins are emptied once a week at the Rockland County Composting Facility in Orangeburg.
