Nyack Tree Committee

THE NYACK TREE COMMITTEE
The Nyack Tree Committee organizes efforts to preserve and expand Nyack's village forest through careful planning, planting and maintenance. The Village of Nyack has been a Tree City USA since 2015. In 2016 the Committee organized the Nyack Tree Project –, the village's community planting and stewardship program. Twice a year, volunteers of all ages plant trees along Nyack’s streets and in the park. Approximately 250 trees have been planted since the program started in 2016. The public is encouraged to participate and can find out more about getting involved by contacting: Nyacktreeproject@gmail.com. 

SPRING PLANTING with NICE-PAK AND AMERICAN FORESTS

The Nyack Tree Committee and local employees of Nice-Pak Products and American Forests planted 34 trees and 117 native grasses, perennials, and shrubs in Nyack in spring 2022. To maximize human impact and improve climate resilience, trees were planted in the downtown core – a high-density residential and commercial area with a low percentage of tree canopy and high proportion of impervious surface. The new trees will manage stormwater runoff, improve air quality, provide shade to mitigate urban heat, enhance the pedestrian experience, sequester carbon, and beautify the downtown area. FREE FRONT YARD TREE PROGRAM  The Tree Committee arranges for tree plantings on eligible private properties through Nyack. Learn more here.
