The Water Department, in collaboration with its engineering consultant H2M and independent contractors, have undertaken a multi-million dollar upgrade of water lines and valves in Central Nyack and West Nyack, as well as on select streets in the Village of Nyack. This project involves replacing water mains and lateral lines, which necessitates excavations in the roadways.
Once the excavations are completed, trenches will be filled in. The Water Department is working closely with Clarkstown Highway to ensure the re-paving of trenches in Central Nyack and West Nyack complies with town-issued permits. Additionally, streets in the Village of Nyack will be repaved as part of the village’s annual paving program.
Phase A of the Water Main Replacement Project was successfully completed from 2020 to 2022, and Phase B is scheduled to commence in Fall 2024.
Phase B of Water Main Replacement Project
The following streets are scheduled for water main work in Phase B of this project, with construction taking place between the Fall 2024 and Summer 2025:
The Water Department is upgrading its treatment plant to effectively remove PFOS/PFAS in compliance with state and federal regulations. Designed by H2M Engineers, this project is nearing completion and is expected to go out to bid in January 2025. The total cost is approximately $6.7 million, with a significant portion being offset by grants and New York State financing.
