Community Power Program to end September 30, 2024

The Village of Nyack has been part of Rockland Community Power, a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) with five other villages and towns in Rockland County, using our collective purchasing power to offer renewable electricity supply as the default for eligible O&R customers in those towns and villages. At the end of September 2024, our current contract with electricity supplier Constellation New Energy is coming to an end after 18 months, as expected.

At the end of the CCA contract, participating residents will be automatically returned to O&R for their electricity supply. All impacted residents and small businesses will receive a notice from O&R of the exact date their supply service will switch over to O&R for their account(s).

In advance of the current CCA contract ending, the Village tried to secure new pricing to continue the renewable electricity supply program. The market conditions were not favorable for a new renewable electricity contract. The Village will continue to review bids in the coming months to see if changing market conditions allow us to relaunch a renewable electricity supply program with favorable rates in the new year.

If the Village is able to relaunch a renewable electricity supply program, eligible residents and small businesses will be notified by mail. As before, public education would precede the launch of any new contract.

If you have any questions about the program or your participation, you can contact the Rockland Community Power program helpline, at (845) 859-9099 or info@rocklandcommunitypower.com.
