Need Help Paying Your Heating Bills? HEAP May Be Able to Assist You!

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is available to eligible New Yorkers to help with the costs of heating and cooling their homes. Whether you use oil, propane, natural gas, electricity, or even wood, HEAP can help you stay warm this winter.

How HEAP Can Help:

  • Regular HEAP Benefits are available to eligible households to help pay for heating costs.
  • Emergency HEAP Benefits are available if you are in danger of running out of fuel or having your heating shut off.

Who is Eligible?

  • Households with gross monthly income at or below the current eligibility guidelines.
  • Households that include someone who is under age 6, age 60 or older, or permanently disabled.
  • Households that receive SNAP, TA, or Code A SSI benefits.

Benefits for the 2024-2025 Season:

  • Base Benefits start at $21 for some households and can go up to $900+ based on heating source.
  • Additional benefits may apply for vulnerable individuals (like seniors, young children, or those with disabilities).

  • Emergency HEAP benefits start January 2, 2025.
