The Village of Nyack Stands Against Anti-Semitism

We want to inform the community about an anti-Semitic act of vandalism committed in the Village last night, and what the Village government is doing to respond.

On Monday night, a Jewish Star of David was painted on a stop sign at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Front Street in Nyack, in an attempt to articulate an anti-Semitic statement that is offensive and hateful.

We feel compelled to state unequivocally that the Village of Nyack does not tolerate bigotry and anti-Semitism, and we urge all community leaders to stand together to condemn this public expression of hate. This vandalism damages our entire community—a community that prides itself on its diversity and how deeply we love all our neighbors.

The Orangetown Police Department is conducting an investigation. We have informed the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Rockland County and will continue to update them on the incident.

We want to thank the OPD, our Village Administrator and our DPW for responding quickly and removing this hateful, anti-Semitic graffiti.

The Village of Nyack condemns the acts of heinous brutality by terrorist organizations against Israel. We stand united with our Jewish friends and neighbors, here in Nyack and across the world. To all those suffering in Israel, our prayers are with you now and in the days and months ahead.
