📬 Mayoral Message

Hi all,

My personal best wishes to everyone observing religious holidays this week.
To those celebrating Passover — Chag Pesach Sameach!
And to those observing Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, you have my warmest wishes for you and your family for a meaningful holiday.

Here are a few updates and highlights from around Nyack:

🎸 1. Coheed and Cambria Day at the Springfest Street Fair

Congratulations to Coheed and Cambria, Nyack’s own progressive rock band that has achieved international acclaim!

Yesterday at the Springfest Street Fair, we celebrated “Coheed and Cambria Day”, complete with the presentation of a “Key to the City” — in the shape of an electric guitar, crafted by local artist Peter Cheney (Never mind that we’re a village — just go with it!).

Even better, the band treated fans to a surprise acoustic set right on the stage at Easter Square. It was a perfect way to show our pride in being the hometown of such an iconic band.

If you’re new to Coheed and Cambria, check out their latest music video — it was filmed right here in Nyack and showcases many of our cherished local landmarks.

Huge thanks and congratulations to Claudio Sanchez, Travis Stever, and honorary Nyackers Josh Eppard and Zach Cooper.
Also, deep appreciation to the Chamber of Commerce for making this celebration possible, especially Bill Batson, Roger Cohen, Jack Dunnigan, Mark Mangan, and Coheed superfan Tristan Dunnigan!

☀️ 2. CBS News’ John Elliott Visits Again

We had another visit from our good friend John Elliott, meteorologist from CBS News — and an all-around great guy.

John broadcast live from some of our favorite local spots: Boxer Donuts, Olives, Pickwick Books, Strawberry Place, and The Angel (First Reformed Church), where he interviewed both Claudio Sanchez and Zach Cooper.

John has featured Nyack on the CBS Morning News four times now — and while the clips aren’t posted online, I’ve got them recorded (with John’s blessing!) and uploaded to Dropbox for anyone interested.
