Important Notice Regarding the Village of Nyack - COVID-19 Response

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has created a Novel Coronovirus 24 hour hotline, staffed by NYSDOH health experts who can answer your questions.
That number is 1-888-364-3065 and is available seven days a week. Anyone with questions about the status of their health and the appropriate course of action can call the hotline.
Montefiore Nyack Hospital has also created a Covid19 information webpage that includes key information about the virus and how to prevent disease spread:

The Village continues to monitor this evolving situation and we will provide daily updates right here. You may also sign up for email blasts here.

And although you have heard this many times now, we feel that it is so important to repeat

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water and avoid touching your face.
  • Cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing and wash hands immediately afterwards.
  • Put used tissues immediately in the trash.
  • Use hand sanitizer's that contain at least 60% alcohol when soap and water are not available.
  • Disinfect surfaces like doorknobs, phone screens, light switches, keyboards, counter-tops, handles, desks and sinks. Use detergent or soap and water to clean before you disinfect.

If you are sick, PLEASE STAY HOME.

Even if you are not sick, observe social distancing which includes avoiding places where 25 or more people may gather and maintaining at least 6ft of distance from other people. If you are 60 or older or if you have a compromised immune system, you should stay home as much as is possible. These are difficult times for our Village, our State, our Nation and our World. By supporting each other, taking care of our neighbors and those we know are vulnerable and by being responsible and respectful to each other and of the requirements necessary to beat back this virus, we will persevere.

On a final note, we are all concerned about the well being of our downtown merchants. One way to help restaurants during this extremely difficult time is to order a meal to eat at home. There are a number of delivery services that will deliver to your door. Nyack resident Joe Rand compiled the following list. It’s a good one and will be updated as businesses reach out. His message and list below:

We Love Nyack! -- A Guide to Living in Nyack, Upper Nyack, & South Nyack by Joe Rand

I started a project to try to find links where people could buy gift cards to local restaurants and shops, but most of the local businesses don’t have online links for buying gift cards. You have to go visit if you want to buy a gift card -- which you should do, because it’s a great way to support local businesses in this difficult time.

That said, I did end up with a relatively long list of links to Nyack businesses that I thought I’d share. Most had their own websites, but when they didn’t I used the most prominent link I could find on social media. I would have posted them in a simple post, but I couldn’t paste in the hyperlinks from my doc file, and I wasn’t about to go and create dozens of new links.

Please help me refine this, if I am missing businesses or missed some links. My methodology was that the business had to have a retail element and be in Nyack itself. I love other businesses throughout Rockland, but I had to have some sort of filter to keep it manageable. We have a lot of businesses here! Make sure you don’t forget them during the Time of Great Distancing....

One additional suggestion that has appeared on Facebook and is an excellent one for easing the financial pain that the new social distancing measure will result in for our businesses is to buy (online or via the phone)a gift certificate to a store, an exercise facility or a restaurant that, once we return to a more normal social structure, can be redeemed. This is a practical way to help the businesses we care about pay their bills and gives us all something to look forward to once this difficult time has passed.
