Important Notice Regarding the Village of Nyack Operations: COVID-19 Response Reminder that the Village of Nyack has suspended metered parking until further notice. It is important to remind residents that Village lots are free and open to all, with the exception of signed permit spots at the back of the Artopee lot and also the Catherine Street lot. It is also important to note that alternate side of the street parking rules in many parts of the Village are in place to allow quick passage for fire trucks and ambulances. Disregarding these rules may result in tragedy because our first responders can not get to where they need to be quickly.
We ask that residents who need to use the downtown to pick up food and necessities make their trip a brief one and that they practice recommended COVID-19 reduction hygiene including hand washing after food pickups or deliveries. And please, we urge residents to stay home as much as is possible. It is the only way to slow the spread of this virus.
We understand the concerns facing our downtown business owners and we are working with State and County officials for ways to reduce their burden now and, even more so, once the disease is on the wane. The State Liquor Authority has clarified the take out beverage changes and they are outlined here, The County continues to issue updated COVID-19 exposures - find today's notice here. Mayor Hammond will host a second call on Wednesday for Business owners to answer questions, discuss any Federal, State and County level changes in policy and to discuss any new steps the Village is taking to support our business community. 1-646-992-2010/access code 798-545-037# We ask that you mute your phones when you join the call and only unmute them to ask questions.
The Mayor will also be joining the Nyack Center Community Chat on Friday. Residents interested in connecting with other members of the community during this isolating time or would like an opportunity to ask the Mayor questions can use ZOOM to join the conversation ZOOM CALL HERE
Nyack Hospital has announced that it is preemptively constructing a temporary new patient entrance to provide a safe and effective environment for screening COVID-19 at risk patients if and when necessary. This is not a screening location for the general public. The Governor has said that a drive through screening location is being constructed in Rockland County and we will update you once we have location details.
As always, we urge you to follow the instructions of health care providers. Wash hands regularly, please practice social distancing and check in via the telephone or email with friends and neighbors, particularly those you know are alone or vulnerable. Once again, we are a strong and united community and we will get through this difficult time if we all work together to help each other.
