Okay, we have a new plan to provide a tiny bit of joy to Montefiore Nyack Hospital. We would love to create a list of musicians from our community who would be willing to do a short solitary set of music, from the corner in front of BOCES during the hospital shift change. The hospital changes shifts at around 7:15 every day..AM and PM…with one set of healthcare workers leaving and another arriving to take their place on the front lines. We thought it would be really nice to celebrate them, make them smile for a few minutes and give them something to look forward to as they come or go.
The musician would stand on the corner of Haven Court, near the hospital but a very safe distance away and play or sing a set of their choice. We can’t think of any way to amplify…we don’t believe there is power nearby…so any ideas you have would be great. And it might be that there is no amplification?
Let me know what you musicians think of this, let us know other musicians you think might be interested in joining in this effort or simply pass it on. All joyous music welcome!
Here’s a sign up sheet for interested musicians, vocalists, etc. We will also take turns filming these sessions to share with the Hospital and on a Facebook page (Join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2635359846732954/) that recognizes the bravery of our First Responders and our Hospital Employees. There is also an awesome Rockland-wide version (Join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/578437633028533/) for video sharing.
I know we are all desperate to help while staying safe during these hard hard times. This is a tiny thing, but it will mean a lot. If you have any questions, please contact Melody Partrick, Recreation Director, Village of Nyack.
