The Village of Nyack has officially adopted today, Friday, June 19th Juneteenth as an official Village of Nyack Holiday. Village Hall & our DPW are closed in observance of Juneteenth - the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. For many in the Black Community, it's a second independence day to celebrate freedom, Black history and Black culture.

The Village of Nyack stands in solidarity with the Black Community.

The Village Board of Trustees would like to acknowledge the dedication and commitment from Nikki Hines and the Nyack Center, especially the Nyack Center Teen Council and their efforts to transform Main Street overnight into a Street Art Project to celebrate the Black Lives Matter movement, completed just in time for Juneteenth
